DRUM ROLL PLEASE......
Last Day before weigh in! It seems like it has been a loooonnngg 17 days, even taking one day at a time. It's probably just that I want to see what the progress is. Some people doing this diet weigh every weekend, but I have committed t every 17 days, so I will stick with that no matter how hard it is to wait.
Feeling good today, but I am sure its just the excitement of making it through 17 whole days and nights without eating anything I am not supposed to. I got to tell you, I have had a few times where I wanted to just grab something quick to eat at a store that was not permissible. It's hard to always make the right choices. I remind myself that it won't be forever, but it must be this way for now because I have made a mess out of my body, and I need to repair it with the good stuff it needs and none of the bad stuff it doesn't need, but that I want. It's not that I crave or want something, it's just that it's there and already prepared for you. That is how 70% of America has gotten so big - we want everything to be available to us quickly, and then the portion sizes have increased about 50% too! Just what we need. Impulse control is not a touted issues these days, what with the internet and being able to find things and get things quickly, including sending mail (which is putting the US Postal Service out of business).
Anyone out there reading this that is doing this diet who find themselves struggling with craving or wanting something, just keep in mind what your goal is, and know that even when you don't feel like you are making progress, you really are. Even if you get on the scale and it doesn't give you the numbers you were expecting or hoping for, remember what you put into your body over the last cycle and KNOW that if nothing else, you have improved your health (cholesterol, blood sugars, etc.)! That alone makes me feel good. If that still doesn't work to keep you from buying that sticky bu or reaching for the cake, get on your computer and post about it, here or on facebook, and hopefully, I or someone else will be there and able to engage with you to stop you. Just DON"T do it to yourself. You are worth the fight, struggle, and time it's going to take to get you back out of that fat suit.
This diet is for sure not a quick and easy journey. However, there are some things you can do to save yourself from grabbing bad things because you want something quick and now. Plan ahead. If you have time, cook your meals on the weekend ad freeze them to reheat later if you don't have a lot of time in the evening. Use a crock pot and put dinner in before you go to work , so it will be ready when you get home. Keep bags of salads around, so you can grab one on the go with a few of your favorite items like turkey, mushrooms, tomato or cucumber, etc. Make sure you buy the bags with the lite dressings. Buy or use a steamer, they are fantastic and cook quickly. You can do all of your vegetables in there and your rice when you get to cycle 2. Get or use a George Foreman Grill. This will also help you grill meat and vegetables quickly and deliciously!. Keep bottled water around, so you can grab them and go, plus they help you keep track of how many you have had during the day. Remember, a typical bottle is 16.9 oz., which is a little over 2 servings of water for the day. Always have fresh veggies that you can munch on raw around, so you can grab it and start eating right now if you need to. My Magi Bullet came with a Hummus recipe (which is made from chickpeas or garbanzo beans) and it's quick, fat free and delicious. I am going to use it for a dip for fresh veggies during cycle 2 days.
TODAY'S POSTING
Up early to get the baby girl off to school. She was sick, and didn't want to go, but she has been sick so much this year, what with getting bronchitis (both of us), that she has missed too much school. I am starting to get notices about it, even though she is on the Principal's honor roll and making excellent academic achievement. We do the work, and put in our time, it's such a hassle. I digressed, We get to school and she is crying. She doesn't want to stay, she doesn't feel good. So, she went to class, and then the secretary called her out about 30 minutes later to go home with me. She has a really croupy cough, a runny nose, and various body aches. She shouldn't of had to go, but what's a mom to do when faced with laws that interfere with parenting of her children? Sigh.
Once we get home, back to bed for her. Lemon water for me. Did someone replace my coffee cups with look-a-likes that are bigger? Man! It's hard to get all of that water down. Does anyone else have trouble with that part of the program? Hmmm. Green tea was warming after being our walking in that cold morning air today. For breakfast, I decided yesterday that I would have an omelet today. So, I made one with turkey and mushrooms, then I ate it with salsa over it. It was delicious. (Does it seem like I am always talking about food and saying its good?). I ate my yogurt this morning too. I guess I didn't eat any fruit today. I cannot remember having any. Oh well.
I planned to have another salad for lunch, but by time it got here, I was so freezing cold, that I opted for a nice warm one instead, I grilled me a chicken breast on my GF grill, and I steamed me some broccoli. It was simple yet good and filling. No snack yet. I will probably save it for after dinner, so I can eat my yogurt.
For dinner, I marinated 2 chicken breasts in Worcestershire sauce and seasonings in the fridge all day. I am getting ready to grill them on my GF. I am steaming cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. It promises to be a good fare. I made Ground Turkey Chili for the family, and it smells so good, my stomach is protesting having something else, but I cannot have beans until tomorrow.!
I went grocery shopping again today. My friend, Diana is back from vacation and she needed to shop for her items to start her cycle 1 tomorrow, when I start cycle 2. I was so happy to see her and visit with her and our other friend Yvette, who went on vacation with Diana. It was a double whammy of missing people I usually see and talk to on a daily. I had to pick up a few things for the week that will allow me to shift gears for cycle 2. For those not knowing this diet, in cycle 2 you alternate days between adding the new ingredients allowed for cycle 2, with a day following cycle one. One day on, one day off. In order for my body to be shocked into losing weight and not get used to my new eating regimen, I have to follow the new rules. That means adding beef, shrimp, beans, legumes, and brown rice or basmati (I went with basmati), among other selections, including a couple of choice of a natural starch. That's right! I am having a baked potato for lunch tomorrow with onions and mushrooms in it, maybe some fat free sour cream with it too, who knows. I may live recklessly.
