ABOUT THIS BLOG

HOW THIS BLOG GOT STARTED

One day not too long ago, my friend Diana told me about a Diet book she had seen on a Dr. Phil segment called The 17 Day Diet by Dr. Mike Moreno.   We love and trust Dr. Phil's advice, are avid fans.  She was really impressed with the fact that Dr. Phil was advocating for this book, since he has his own weight loss solution books and routines out.  I was too once she told me.  We both thought that this program must really be something, if Dr. Phil is not only featuring it on his program, but is actively getting his audience members involved in the plan with a friendly contest between his players and the audience members chosen from The Doctors show.  She said she was going to order the book, but she had to wait until payday.  So we both patiently waited for that day.  We agreed I would read the book when it arrived, since she works so much, and then I would share the knowledge with her.  Payday came and she ordered the book.  It took a lot longer to arrive than payday did.  We waited not so patiently during this time because we were anxious to get it and see what had Dr. Phil's audience member losing 34 pounds in 17 days!  We were chomping at the bit.  Finally, the book arrived, but since Diana wasn't going to see me for a couple of days, she actually read through it and marked key areas with sticky notes.  She decided not to start her diet until she returns from vacation on March 1.  Then she passed it along to me to read.  Let me just say that this book is an easy read and easy to understand, it went by fast.  As soon as I got through reading the second cycle, I decided I was ready to put cycle one into action, then I could finish reading the other two cycles.  I made my list, went shopping and started The 17 Day Diet
I recently watched (and loved) the movie Julie and Julia , where Julie decides she is going to work her way through Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking cook book in one year and write a blog about it.  I liked that she had to write everyday regardless of what happened.  I like to write, so I decided that I would write a blog about my experience on this 17 Day Diet plan to keep myself accountable to me.  I really want to succeed this time in losing this weight.  I thought the best way to force myself to stick with it instead of quitting as I have so many other times, was to create a blog, and let people know I am doing this.  My thought was if I could create even a small following, then I would be accountable not only to me, but to them.  The premise being that everyone would want to see how well the diet works, what struggles I will be confronted with, how I handle them, and hopefully they would want to see me succeed too.
I was not hoping for a book deal like Julia, but I knew I would need at least one or two people keeping me on track when I hit a rough patch in the road, That is why I decided a blog would be the way to go rather than just journaling.
I did not know the first thing about creating a blog, but I learned on my own very quickly.  I started typing , and kept learning as I went to create the blog site you see when your reading now.
