Day Nine started with a phone call from my dad. He forgot to come get me yesterday, and my niece had too many visitors again, and she wanted him to throw them all out, so he did. He said he would get me today early so I could see her. I got up and asked little bit to fix my tea for me while I hopped in the shower. When I got out, I prepared and drank my lemon water - it was about 11 am. I then ate my yogurt and apple. I drank 1/4 of my tea and finished getting ready. Dad arrived and I was grabbing snacks to take with us on the way out the door He asked me to stay no more than 20 minutes so we could take turns and get out so they could get home early today. The live in Tehachapi, but have spent a significant amount of time down here with Automn. I went up to her room and just before going through her door I suddenly started crying. I stopped to try and get myself together. I don't want her to see me crying. At this point we are not even sure if she understands how very sick she really is. A nurse kept coming by talking to me and sympathizing with me, which only made it worse. I know she was trying to be nice and that is appreciated, however, whenever you see someone crying, don't try to be nice and tell them its OK - it just makes them cry harder! Tip to the unhip.
After a few minutes i pulled it together and went inside. She was alone except for her "bodyguard" - a lady that she lives with who hasn't left her side as far as I know. She hadn't eaten or drank anything all day because they were supposed to take her for a tap procedure. She was hunger, but mostly wanted to crunch some ice chips. I hugged and kissed her. Talked to her about her life in Kentucky, and my life in Washington. I lost track of time and probably stayed 30 minutes instead of 20. Mom came in and sent me down to dad so he could come up and I could stay with the little one.They stayed about a half an hour. Came back and brought me home. I ate my second fruit - an apple at 1:18, while Rebekhah had peanut butter Ritz crackers. I drank 2 waters there waiting in the truck listening to music.
Once home, I finished off my tea, which was cold, but still good. Then, I played on the Internet a bit, establishing a Pandora radio station of prince. Where I learned that Prince is touring and is in Oakland tomorrow and Wednesday. I would love to go! Prince is the only concert I have ever been to back in 1984 with Linda Mead (Thank you Linda). I checked out ticket availability and they still have some floor seats in row 1! for only $894. Anybody got an extra thousand to give me this great gift of a second concert. I am so surprised he is touring again. He does it so rarely anymore. I may never get to see him again. I would like company and my oldest daughter wants to go with me.
Salad with cucumbers, mushrooms, turkey chunks, and kefir yogurt ranch dressing - still as delicious as ever! Yogurt for snack. Tea to warm me up and get another down. By the way, I did finish my last tea last night and drank two more waters. Yippee.
For dinner, which will be prepared in a little while, will be fresh catfish (plenty of it today), and balsamic artichokes, and Parmesan asparagus & Brussels sprouts.
STATS
Today's stats look like this: green tea = 3 (so far, I will finish the 5 required); water = 3 so far (at this point, being so cold, I am hoping to get at least 2 more down tonight, more if I can); Proteins = turkey and catfish; Vegetables = Tons; exercise = 15 minutes; Outlook = positive;
Looking good and feeling good. Trying not to focus on how much further I still have to go. Concentrating on my immediate successes. I am feeling better physically and mentally. My self-esteem builds with each pound shed. I actually felt pretty yesterday.
RECIPES
Dinner was delicious! I baked the fresh catfish fillets. I squeezed a half a lemon over them, seasoned them with pepper, and salt. I was reaching for the garlic powder when I realized that I have fresh garlic and onions. So, I went to the fridge and took them out. I cut a yellow onion into rings and laid them over the fish. I got three cloves of garlic and pressed them and spread that over the fish. Yummy. Then I prepared asparagus. I found a couple of recipes that I like parts of, but not the whole thing, so I combined two and had some Great asparagus. The idea of roasting asparagus appealed to me so I liked that idea instead of boiling. I snapped the ends off at their natural bend as suggested. I coated them with a light olive oil using a bar-b-Que brush (the little bit did that for me as it was fun for her). The I sprinkled garlic powder over them ( if you like garlic, I suggest using fresh - probably 3-4 cloves for 4 pounds of asparagus), I like to flavor things lightly with garlic, but I am not a huge fan, so powder this time. Then I sprinkled salt and pepper and light Parmesan cheese over them. I baked at 350 for 30 minutes, then turned on the broiler for 5 minutes (watch them so they don't burn - all oven's are different). Serve while hot - they cool quickly. Delicious!
DONATIONS
I placed a donation link on my blog page in case someone out there is rolling in extra dough and wants to help fund my green tea needs. Nobody knows better than me how bad this economy is. I have been down and out for too long now. I really do not know how I can pay $94 for more tea, but I really do not want to have to switch teas, when this one is working so great and making me look so great - other green teas don't do all that this one does. iN ALL SERIOUSNESSTHOUGH, If you have $5 or $10 extra and want to donate to the cause, please do! It will add up if enough people can spare a $5. I appreciate any assistance you can give, and I thank you in advance.
I hope that someone out there is still following me. I haven't gotten any comments or responses in a few days. I love to hear from you! Let me know whats on your mind, ask questions, give me input, share a recipe....? anyone?
